Global Digital Infrastructure (GDI) Program Manager, Federica Tortorella, delivered a session at the recent École Haïtienne sur la Gouvernance de l’Internet (EHGI) 2025, under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics.” In the session, Tortorella shared material from BCNM’s new GDI Certificate to an audience across Haiti.

The lecture she presented, “The Story of a Selfie,” is part of the course Digital Infrastructure 101, offered by the Berkeley Center for New Media during the University’s summer sessions. One aim of the course is to make complex digital infrastructure topics accessible and intelligible across disciplines and cultural contexts. While this and other courses will be offered again in English between May and August 2026, as part of the GDI Program’s commitment to reaching a global audience, Tortorella translated and delivered the lecture in French.

The session was marked by strong enthusiasm, as well as dynamic and thoughtful questions, from the audience. The GDI Program would like to thank ISOC Chapter Haiti and Association for Responsible AI (ARAI) organizers for the invitation and for creating a space that fosters meaningful dialogue on Internet governance and responsible technological development.

We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that strengthen global understanding of digital infrastructure and its role in shaping an ethical, equitable, and inclusive digital future.
