Alexis Wood Guest Curates State of Jefferson: Maps & More Pop-Up Exhibit

Maps & More Presents: The State of Jefferson...livability is our greatest resource. April 15 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Alexis Wood, PhD student in the Department of Geography, will deliver introductory remarks as guest curator for The State of Jefferson, the final Maps and More pop-up exhibit of the semester.

Held at the Earth Sciences & Map Library, the exhibit explores the historical and political geography of Northern California’s recurring secessionist movements through maps and ephemera from the UC Berkeley Library and Bancroft Library collections. Through these materials, the exhibit examines how regional movements like the "State of Jefferson" reflect long-term uneven development, infrastructural marginalization, and political tensions across California’s urban–rural divide.
