Designated Emphasis in New Media
Application Due: November 1 and March 1
BCNM’s Designated Emphasis (D.E.) in New Media offers a supplemental credential for UC Berkeley Ph.D. students from any home department whose research connects to new media. It helps students deepen their work by bringing together historical, social, cultural, and design perspectives that extend beyond a single discipline.
Graduate Certificate in New Media
Application Due: November 1 and March 1
BCNM’s Graduate Certificate in New Media supports master’s students in exploring the nature and implications of new media across disciplines. Drawing from the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields, the program fosters critical inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative research at the intersection of media and technology.
Undergraduate Certificate in New Media
Application Due: November 1 and March 1
BCNM’s Undergraduate Certificate in New Media emphasizes the critical understanding and practice of new media through interdisciplinary perspectives. The certificate introduces students to the changing new media landscape that is transforming the way we think in the fields of art, technology, the humanities, and social sciences. Our students learn to innovate as they question the impact of new media on the human experience. The certificate program will serve as a portal for undergraduate engagement and community in new media.
