Register Now for Indigenous Technologies Workshops with Tanya Lukin Linklater and Cannupa Hanska Luger!
BCNM is excited to welcome artists Tanya Lukin Linklater and Cannupa Hanska Luger to UC Berkeley this academic year, for presentations as part of our Indigenous Technologies series, a program that engages questions of technology and new media in relation to global structures of indigeneity, settler colonialism, and genocide in the 21st century. Our Indigenous Technologies events and ongoing conversations with Indigenous scholars and communities aim to critically envision and reimagine what a more just and sustainable technological future can look like.
Please see here for more info on Tanya Lukin Linklater's presenation, Tendon thread, on Monday, November 2, 2026, and here for Cannupa Hansa Luger's presentation, The Artist as Social Engineer, on Monday, April 5, 2027.
In addition to these events, we're honored that both Tanya and Cannupa will be hosting hands-on workshops for UC Berkeley students and community members, expanding on the content of their talks, the following afternoons (Tuesday, November 3 for Tanya, and Tuesday, April 6, 2027 for Cannupa). Participation is limited, and requires completion of a brief questionnaire. Participants will be reminded of workshop approximately one week prior.
Please complete this questionnaire for Tanya's workshop (an inclusive workshop that involves creative writing, embodied inquiry, and meditations on Sugpiaq grasses) and/or this questionnaire for Cannupa's workshop (details forthcoming), and help us spread the word about these invaluable opportunities to fellow students and community members!
