BCNM Director Hannah Zeavin Launches Parapraxis Books in Downtown Oakland, Saturday, October 24, 1-7 PM

Founded in 2021 by Hannah Zeavin and Alex Colston, The Psychosocial Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization that exists to advance our understanding of where the social, political, and psychological converge.

Home to multiple persuasions within psychoanalysis—the tradition inaugurated by Sigmund Freud—the Foundation's programming, publishing, clinical education, and clinical work illuminates the psychogenic dimensions of culture and society, mental health and medicine, and political life.

This Saturday, October 24, from 1 to 7pm, the Psychosocial Foundation celebrates the opening of Parapraxis Books, the only psychoanalytic bookstore in the United States, at 1724 Franklin Street in Downtown Oakland. See here for info on Saturday's marathon reading, featuring Ussama Makdisi, Ramsey McGlazer, Noor Asif, Brittany Newell, Francisco González, Geoffrey G. O’Brien, Perwana Nazif, Samiha Khalil, Brianna Suslovic, Jyoti Rao, David Buuck, Amy R. Wong, Dacia Harrold, Matthew Shutzer, Hannah Zeavin, and more.
